Tip Tuesday: How to Be Tech Ready for Any Presentation

Have you ever been in the middle of a presentation only to have your screen go blank or have some piece of tech fail? It's the worst! If so, read on to see our list of ways to ensure that you're never left stranded by your technology.

Pre-Presentation Prep

Use an Equipment Checklist & Pack in advance:
  • Projector
  • Projector Screen
    • Pro-tip: if you're hoping to pack lightly, it is possible to project onto a light colored walled especially in a client's office if wall space is available
  • Laptop with any necessary software installed
    • Insider-tip: For us it's Microsoft Word & Google Chrome
  • Laptop Charger/Chord
  • USB Mouse (if preferred)
  • HDMI and/or VGA Cable
    • Insider-tip: We pack both just in case, but you essentially only need one depending on your laptop to connect your laptop to your projector.
  • Three copies of your presentation if it's a physical file (ie. Powerpoint or Slidedeck)
    • Saved to the laptop you'll be using for the presentation
    • Saved to a USB as a backup
    • Emailed to yourself as a backup
  • Confirm access to Wi-Fi as necessary on-site
    • Have a backup internet solution ready (ie. tether or hot-spot your phone)

Day-of Presentation Prep
  • Give yourself extra time for mishaps to ensure your timely arrival.
  • Factor in time to setup your equipment, make introductions, etc.
  • Survey the presentation space.

Post Presentation

  • Thank you host and your audience for their time.
  • Have business cards ready to hand out!

All of the points listed above are what we here at MerusCase have found personally useful. We frequently visit client offices to either present a demonstration or training of the system. Essentially, we're always giving presentations about MerusCase!

Are you new to Merus? Is so, we'd be happy to show you around. Contact us to schedule a demo today!
