Do Lawyers Dream of End Rhyme? A Post for National Poetry Month

Most people don't tend to realize that April is National Poetry Month. Very few people are poets, and while there are a lot of people who read poetry, it is not something they think about on a regular basis. In the spirit of National Poetry Month, however, I've taken this opportunity to write a small collection of legal poems.

A Legal Limerick:

There was a young lawyer from Palm Springs
who was trying to file some pleadings.
The pleads were rejected,
the lawyer, dejected,
was absent-minded for all of his hearings.

A Haiku for Hearings:
Documents files:
plaintiff versus defendant.
Will it go to trial?

The Stipulation Sonnet:
Of all the firms in all the state who chose
which software suite will meet their legal needs,
your reading about us will plant the seed
that grows into the knowledge you will use

to track your time across open cases,
file forms for court and print all your letters,
for you to add your workflows, calendars
and tasks to track how you cover each base.

If you need to send a message or to
store a report from a doctor, and then
you want to upload all the mail you scan,
these are all things we allow you to do.

When you decide you want to work with us,
you will be part of family Merus.

American Poet Emily Dickinson
Feel free to take a moment and think if you know of any poems about the legal system, or by lawyers, judges, or anyone who works in or for the legal system, and consider sharing them in the comments.
